Debriefing Room M-
Welcome to one of the debriefing rooms. Although labeled a debriefing room it's not just used for debriefing simulations. The rooms are also used for pre-briefing simulations, meeting rooms, additional lab activities and our IPE Care Conferences.
Each simulation room and debrief room (along with lab rooms throughout the building) are hooked up to our video capture system. Depending on the room it will contain one to two cameras. The cameras could be either stationary cameras (as shown in this picture) or 360 cameras. The video capture system is our eyes and ears into a room and video recordings can be made to use as learning tools or for assessment purposes.

This is the Collaboration area. This space is used for prebriefing learners prior to the start of a simulation. It is equipped with a conference meeting table and chairs in the center overlooking a Collaboration Multi-media Unit used to watch videos or attend virtual meetings. You will enter the simulation rooms from here. They include the OB/Nursery, Children’s Pediatric ICU, Essential Skills, Ante/Infection Control, and High-End Respiratory rooms.There are four additional rooms, a storage room, a clean supplies room and two simulation control rooms.This area also houses the medical administration machine, the pediatric crash cart, the adult crash cart and when needed, the postpartum hemorrhage cart.

This is the Health Sciences Building 14, Level 2, main corridor. This building houses Health Sciences labs, classrooms, conference rooms, a Forum, the Simulation Center, Anatomage Lab, and much more.

Storage Room Inventory-
The Storage Room is where the simulation staff houses many of the additional supplies needed for simulations. We have additional adult and child simulators, I.V. arms, cervix models, and moulage accessories such as assorted mannequin wigs, make-up, wounds, hemorrhage pad, replacement eyes, and lifelike examples of wounds on feet, legs, and arms.

Essential Skills Room-
While the other simulation rooms in the center are set-up as basic ICU rooms, this is set up for basic simulation functions reflecting a medical/surgical inpatient room. It does have an ante room entrance (for infection control) if needed for the scenario. As with the other rooms it contains the standard equipment of I.V. pump, headwall unit with suction/oxygen/air supply, patient monitor and workstation on wheels (WOW). This room is the home of our Laerdal 3G+.

Attached to the medical/surgical room is the Ante room. When the scenario calls for infection control precautions, learners will enter the patient room through this room. Gown and PPE equipment would be put on in here prior to entering an infectious patient’s room. An ante room is used for airborne precautions such as Tuberculous.

Control Room G-
The simulation center has two control rooms. Each control room houses the equipment needed to operate two simulators. A large 2-way mirror is set up for each room to allow the faculty and simulation staff the ability to see into the room. The video capture system is also housed in the room and allows for the eyes and ears into the room. To properly run a simulation, each simulation room needs its own area in the control room for the simulator’s laptop and headset to allow for communication, video capture lab recorder, and telephone for receiving calls from the participants.

Newborn Tory-
Tory is a newborn simulator that can be used for basic newborn assessment. Additional tasks include crying/grunting sounds, spontaneous breathing, variable respiratory rates and inspiratory/expiratory ratios, comprehensive ECG rhythm library, ECG monitoring using real devices, healthy and abnormal heart sounds, visible central cyanosis with programmable intensity, fontanelle, brachial, and umbilical pulses, and finally blood pressure-dependent pulses.

The Simulation Center has Preemie Ann simulator that can be used to do some basic assessment including heart and lung sounds and minimal vocal sounds. Preemie Ann resides in a working Giraffe.

The 3G+ Simulator-
The 3G+ can do functions such as: basic vital signs, palpating pulses, CPR, seizure, airway, auscultation, pupil reaction, foley insertion, interactive communication.

The ASL 5000 (Active Servo Lung) simulates respiratory mechanics. This box allows for high-fidelity ventilation management training for respiratory care, critical care, and emergency care. The ASL 5000 can be used with any ventilator and any ventilator settings to train clinicians in bag-valve mask ventilation, non-invasive ventilation, airway management, mechanical ventilation, and anesthesiology.

The Anatomage Lab is a multi-media room housing our 3D cadaver (Anatamage) table. The room is designed for 8 to 16 people around the table or if a larger class is using the area there is a gallery area for overhead monitors. The room is also equipped with zoom so that lessons can be accessible to people in other areas both on and off campus.

The Anatomage Table allows students to experience and explore anatomy in a 3D environment. It is equipped with 5 human cadavers that can be dissected along with many high-resolution individual body parts (both male and female) and case studies. The table also includes a limited number of animal case studies.

The Anatomoge Table can be used in either a horizontal or vertical layout. The room is also equipped with 2 high resolution monitors that display what is currently being viewed on the table. This allows for larger groups of learners to be able to use the room at the same time.

The Respiratory ICU unit which houses the CAE Human Patient Simulator. The human patient simulator from CAE is used to practice respiratory and critical care training. This simulator provides true respiratory gas exchange, meaning it can respond to real anesthetic gases, oxygen therapy and medications. This high-fidelity simulator can detect flow and pressure triggering via a ventilator (breathe on its own) and can aid our students to make changes due to respiratory distress, failure, or agitation.
Some key areas of use include:
• BiPAP scenarios
• Ventilator Scenarios
• Chest tube placement
• Chest decompression (Needle aspiration)
• Ventilator troubleshooting and alarms
• Patient assessment (initial) – BP readings, lung sounds, pulse

This is Children’s Hospital Pediatric room. Although it is the room for our 6-year-old (Junior) we can move other simulators into this room if needed. Room comes equipped with the standard items: I.V. pump, patient monitor, headwall unit with suction/oxygen/air supply and workstation on wheels. Also, in this room is a patient information board designed after those found at Dayton Children’s Hospital. Room is equipped with a stationary camera and a 360 camera.

Welcome to our OB Room. One of our two birthing mom simulators resides in here. SimMom is designed to provide learners with a simulated live birth experience. A uterus can also be inserted into SimMom for simulating post-partum hemorrhage. Besides being used for OB related simulations, SimMom can also have seizures, and you can perform auscultation and foley insertion. Room is equipped with a stationary camera and a 360 camera.

Welcome to the Sinclair Health Sciences Simulation Center


The Health Science's Building 14 is dedicated to the Health Sciences programs (degrees and certificates) at Sinclair College. Although simulations happen throughout the building, on the second floor, there is an area dedicated to simulation – the Sinclair Health Sciences Simulation Center and Anatomage Lab. The Simulation Center houses four specialized hospital rooms along with three debriefing rooms. That Anatomage Lab houses the Anatomage Table – a virtual 3D cadaver table. Many of the Health Sciences students come to the center to actively participate in simulations. This tour will allow you to become orientated to the space prior to your first simulation.
